Biography


Dr. Edward Bush is an innovative leader with over 21 years of experience in higher education with 18 of those years in the California Community College system. Dr. Bush is well known and respected for his exceptional leadership and research on issues relating to student success, equity, diversity, and leadership. Dr. Bush holds a Ph.D. in Urban Educational Leadership from Claremont Graduate University, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science.

Dr. Bush currently serves as the President of Cosumnes River College in Sacramento, California. His professional career includes Vice-President of Student Services, Dean of Student Services, Tenured Associate Faculty member in Student Activities, Director of the Educational Talent Search/Federal TRIO grant, and Adjunct Professor for several Graduate programs. Dr. Bush serves on numerous college, district, and statewide committees and is active in community organizations including serving on the board for four Non-Profit Foundations.

Dr. Bush is scholar-practitioner. He has devoted his time to developing programs and services that foster student access and success as well as creating successful targeted programs for historically underserved populations. He is a co-author of “The Plan: A Guide for Women Raising African American Boys from Conception to College” and co-author of “The African American Male Theory.” Dr. Bush has published three book chapters, and ten peer reviewed publications. In addition, Dr. Bush is a Founder and Board Member A2MEND (African American Male Network and Development Incorporated). A2MEND is a non-profit organization that is comprised of African American male administrators who volunteer their scholarly and professional expertise to foster institutional change within the Community College System.
