VP for Enrollment and Student Services, SUNY Fredonia
Biography
Upon arrival in August 2016, Dr. Cedric B. Howard assumed duties as the Vice President of Enrollment and Student Services at the State University of New York at Fredonia (SUNY Fredonia). He is responsible for all student services and enrollment management functions including its NCAA Division III Intercollegiate Athletics teams and University Police.
Prior to Fredonia, he served as Vice Chancellor for Student and Enrollment Services at the University of Washington at Tacoma, a position he has held since 2007. In that role, he led student enrollment services including admissions, financial aid, registrar, career development and student fellowships and merit awards; student engagement, including the campus activities board, student organizations and government, conduct, housing, volunteer services, student leadership development, and recreational and fitness centers; student success, including the counseling center, health center, disability support services, and support to international students and veterans; management, including strategic planning and budget management, and student research and effectiveness; and campus traditions, including Commencement, New Student Convocation, and a MLK Unity Breakfast.
Also, he has served as the Director of Student Affairs at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg, Dean of Student Affairs and Chief Student Affairs Officer at LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis, Tenn.; Director of the Diversity Center and Student Programs at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah; and Coordinator of Student Support Services at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Dr. Howard has received many professional honors and awards including the NASPA’s Scott Goodnight Award for Outstanding VP/Dean (national recipient – 2018 and western region recipient in 2014), the Washington Student Achievement Council’s College Bound Champion Award in 2015. In 2019, he was named a Pillar of the Profession by the NASPA Foundation.
He holds a B.S. in Psychology, M.Ed. in Educational Administration, and doctoral degrees in both Higher Education & Theology.
